Psoriasis
The word psoriasis derives from the ancient greek word "psory", which means scale. It is a chronic non contageous desease, with elations and depressions.
It has many causes:
- Ceratinization disorder. Keratinization is the procedure of producing ceratin cells. Those are normal cells that protect your skin. A single ceratin cell of a healthy man is produced in a month. Those with psoriasis produce one in a day! That is the reason why we see this characteristic image of patients covered in silver scales.
- Inflammation.
- Heredity. Although there has not been discovered a psoriasis gene yet, researches clain that there is indeed a genetic susceptibility.
There is medication, that is applied topically or orally. The new biological treatments in injectable form can keep the skin in excelent condition.
Most important is, that with all the medicines in the doctor's disposal, the disease is clearly deteriorated in a month after the treatment and the appearance of the patient's skin has no difference that that of a healthy man. The healthy appearance can be retained.
